Making Father’s Day Special

Hi boo,

So father’s day is approaching and this year I realised that it is one day that is not appreciated or celebrated a lot. I’d like for you and I to change that.

Let’s start here, what is father’s day? This is a day that celebrates fathers and father figures for the roles they play in our children’s lives. Fathers play such a huge role in our children’s lives by not just providing financially, some even go to the extent of helping bathe the baby, feeding and changing nappies. Now that we know what father’s day is and why it’s celebrated, how do we bring about the change of making this year the best father’s day that they have?

Well, firstly don’t buy him socks or a neck tie! Honestly mommy he doesn’t like that and predictable gifts make him not look forward to such special days. Be thoughtful when planning on the gift with the kids. Just think about how him and the kids always ensure that you feel special on mother’s day; those small things like cards, breakfast in bed, they honestly go a long way into make him feel appreciated as he should on the day.

We are always trying to find ways to make father feel more involved and play as much of a role as we do in our children’s life and as minor as it may sound. Father’s day is definitely one of the ways to get him more involved and making him feel like he plays a role bigger than the financial contributions he makes to the upbringing of your children.

So we still have a whole week mommies, get the kids together. Write down a special message for dad, get thinking about what he loves. I’d say maybe have a picnic day in your backyard and cook his favorite meals for the day, he will definitely love it. The lockdown is even helping us spend such days together as a family so make the most of the time you have a family with no distractions.

Spread the love
